What is EndNote?

EndNote is software for the organisation and management of bibliographic citations and references. It enables users to:

  • save, organise and edit references
  • link to Word to cite references and create bibliographies

It is available in a desktop and a web version. EndNoteWeb is ideal for undergraduates, but does not have the full functionality of the desktop version.

For more information see the EndNote corporate website .

Accessing EndNote

The University's licence allows EndNote to be installed on all University owned computers free of charge and enables students and staff to sign up for an EndNoteWeb account.

It is installed on teaching space (lecture and seminar room) computers and all networked PCs in Library and the University's PC labs. Additionally it can be purchased by current staff and students at a discounted price for installation on their own PCs either at home or in residences.  To purchase EndNote go to the online store. Click on Login now, select Lancaster University as your institution and log in with your network details.
