Materials you need not in the Library? Use the Request a Resource form to request materials for study or research, suggest a title for the leisure reading collection, or a title to improve the diversity of the library collection.
In support of campus-wide initiatives to decolonise the curriculum, we are working to increase the diversity of Library collections so they are more inclusive and representative of our University community.
We are seeking recommendations for titles that will help develop our collection to be more inclusive of any marginalised community, whether it be associated with race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, gender identify, gender expression, physical ability, socioeconomic class or other. You can see the titles that we've purchased to date on our dedicated library guide.
To make a recommendation, please use our 'Request a Resource' form.

Disability History Month runs from November 18th - December 18th and to inspire people to read about Disability history, lives and culture we have created a Lancaster University Library Disability History Month resource list that includes fiction and non-fiction works that celebrate the breadth and depth of Disability History Month. The list includes books, journal articles, a viewing list and audio material, and has been curated by library staff. Some of the material is available online while other resources are available in the library building. We welcome you to suggest titles for the resource list. One of the key themes for the 2021 Disability History Month is 'Hidden Disabilities' and we have included a section of both fiction on non-fiction focusing on the autism spectrum,
Your suggestions have helped us to build this reading list and we welcome new suggestions for books that will develop our collection further, acknowledging and celebrating disability experiences, not only in history, but looking forward to the future. You can fill out a Disability History Month postcard in the Library, or e-mail suggestions to library@lancaster.ac.uk
From 16th November, a collection of books and pamphlets on the subject of Disability History will be on display near the entrance to the Library.
