In EBook Central (link in image above) there are a couple of really useful accessibility features.

Enable accessibility mode (this strips out all the style from the ebook and turns it into pure text for use with a screen reader).

  1. Go into settings - profile  (tab across if using Jaws or a similar screen reader)
  2. Tick the 'enable accessibility mode' radio button and 'agree to proquest's privacy policy' and  then 'save changes'

Enable open dyslexic typeface

Speech recognition software

Speech recognition software is often used by people with disabilities who have difficulty using a keyboard or mouse, or who have difficulty committing their ideas to written form. It can also be used to help transcribe recordings, but there can be issues when transcribing interviews which limit the technique's usefulness.

Visit the Access to speech recognition software for more information about software available at Lancaster University as well as freely available suggested software
